Room 1′s Blog

Wow! I can hardly believe that the school year is half over! The students have already learned so much and are working hard at learning even more. Their hallway behavior has earned them a Movie and Popcorn. We watched Toy Story and had popcorn, chips and juice. It was a great time for all of us. We are now working toward that 150 mark! We are very close.

¡Ah! ¡Yo apenas puedo creer que el año escolar es medio sobre! Los estudiantes ya han aprendido tanto y trabajan duramente en aprender aún más. Su conducta del pasillo los ha ganado una Película y Palomitas de maíz. Miramos Historia de Juguete y palomitas de maíz tenidas, las pastillas y el jugo. Fue un gran tiempo para todos nosotros. ¡Nosotros ahora preparamos el terreno para que 150 marca! Somos muy cercanos.

Room 1 reached their goal of receiving 100 compliments for hallway behavior! As a special reward they played a game with the Gym teacher, Mrs. Clausius. The students had lots of fun and thorughly enjoyed their reward. Keep up the good work, Room 1!

Our Students of the Month for November are Edwyna and Yasmeen. Congratulations, you two! They will be honored at our next Manor Excellence assembly which will be held on Dec. 7 at 9:15. Many other students will be honored at the assembly as well. Several students earned honor roll on their report cards last marking period. They will be acknowledged as well as the students who have accomplished Accelerated Reading goals so far this year.

The students of Room 1 are doing a great job learning the weekly poems. We had four students learn and recite last week’s poem. Great job Alex, Tristan, Walter and Mikey!

¡Alójese 1 alcanzó su meta de recibir 100 cumplidos para la conducta de pasillo! Cuando una recompensa especial ellos jugaron un juego con el maestro de Gimnasio, la Sra. Clausius. Los estudiantes tuvieron mucha diversión y thorughly gozó su recompensa. ¡Sigue así, el Espacio 1!

Nuestros Estudiantes del Mes para noviembre son Edwyna y Yasmeen. ¡Las felicitaciones, usted dos! Ellos serán honorados en nuestra próxima asamblea de la Excelencia del Señorío que será aguantada diciembre. 7 en 9:15. Muchos otros estudiantes serán honorados en la asamblea también. Varios estudiantes ganaron cuadro de honor en sus cartillas de notas dura marcar el período. Ellos serán reconocidos así como los estudiantes que han alcanzado Acelerado Leyendo las metas en lo que va del año.

Los estudiantes del Espacio 1 hace un gran trabajo que aprende los poemas semanales. Tuvimos a cuatro estudiantes aprenden y recitan último poema de la semana. ¡Gran trabajo Alex, Tristan, Walter y Mikey!

It was great to see all of you last week for conferences. I met with almost all of you. Your children are working hard and learning a lot.

They are also getting compliments! Room 1 has almost 100 compliments! I will let you know when we reach that goal and what our reward is.

Our students of the month for October are Alejandro, Alex and Biridiana. Congratulations you guys!

Speaking of congratulations, I have some great news to tell you. Your children have been working very hard to memorize and recite poems and stories! I have never seen first graders work so hard. So far, the following students have accomplished this: Alejandro, Abimael, Walter, Diana, Alex, Luis, Mikey, Javier, Michael and Yuritzy.

Way to go, you guys! Keep up the great work!

¡Da las gracias para Venir!

Fue gran ver todo usted la semana pasada para conferencias. Encontré con casi todo usted. Sus niños trabajan duro y aprender mucho.

¡Ellos consiguen también los cumplidos! ¡El espacio 1 tiene casi 100 cumplidos! Permitiré que usted sepa cuando alcanzamos esa meta y lo que nuestra recompensa es.

Hablando de felicitaciones, yo tengo algunas gran noticias para decirle. ¡Sus niños han estado trabajando muy memorizar duramente y para recitar los poemas y las historias! Yo nunca he visto primero alumnos trabajan tan duramente. Hasta ahora, los estudiantes siguientes han alcanzado esto: Alejandro, Abimael, Walter, Diana, Alex, Luis, Mikey, Javier, Michael y Yuritzy.

Room 1 just keeps getting compliments! After they earned 75 compliments for walking quietly and respectfully in the hallway they received ice cream treats. This past Friday we had ice cream sundaes after lunch. It was a very nice treat and I am so proud of Room 1 for earning so many compliments! Way to go, Room 1!

 ¡Alójese 1 mantiene apenas los cumplidos que consiguen! Después de que ellos ganaran 75 cumplidos para andar calladamente y respetuosamente en el pasillo ellos recibieron los gustos de helado. Este el viernes pasado nosotros tuvimos los helados con frutas y nueces de helado después del almuerzo. ¡Fue un gusto muy agradable y yo estoy tan orgulloso del Espacio 1 para ganar tantos cumplidos! ¡La manera de ir, Alojarse 1!  

Manor Excellence

Wilmington Manor has a special reward program for the students who work hard and are always trying their best. Every month students are chosen who have followed the rules of the school and classrooms. Most students do a great job every day but we can only choose one or two students a month per classroom. Be watching for your child to be a future Student of the Month! We honor the Students of the Month at an assembly.

Our Manor Excellence assembly was on Friday. We honored Abel and Abimael as Room 1′s Students of the Month for September. Congratulations you guys! Since most of the students do their best most of the time, we also have a reward after the assembly. Everyone who did a great job in the month gets to participate in the reward which is decided by the grade level teachers. First grade’s reward this month was Bingo for prizes!

After the assembly, Room 1 played U. S. A. Bingo. We have been studying about our country in Social Studies and so the students were excited to find the states on their Bingo cards. It was tricky since there are 50 states and only 8 states on each card. But the students were patient and everyone walked away with at least one prize.

Compliments

Room 1 also had a special treat at lunch on Friday. Since they had earned 50 compliments for walking in the hall, their reward was lunch and chat with the principal, Mr. Haber. The students followed Mr. Haber to the classroom with their lunches and they all sat down and ate and chatted. Mr. Haber also put on some music in the background and the students seemed to really have a good time.

Afterward, I used this experience as a good introduction to letter writing. The students each wrote a letter to Mr. Haber thanking him for coming in and chatting with them. Letters are difficult to write because things have to be “just so.” I think the students did a wonderful job on their first letter writing activity of first grade.

Math

We are in a new unit in math. We are studying shapes (geometry). The students are having a good time. They all seem to enjoy our math series.

Writing

We are going to be doing a lot more writing now that we are in our second month of school. First graders are expected to make great strides in writing by the end of the year. Therefore, they must do a LOT of writing. You will see much more writing for homework. We will be working on all the traits of writing but the first one we are working on is conventions. The students will be expected to write complete sentences, start each sentence with a capital letter, end with appropriate punctuation, have spaces between their words and have legible handwriting. This will be the criteria for the first marking period grade. Please be aware that all writing from home should follow these guidelines.

Reading

Our reading expectations are increasing as well. Your children will be bringing home the second of five books in our reading series. You will notice that there are many more words on each page and the words are harder. Each book increases in this way. I cannot tell you how important it is for your children to read the assigned story at least once every night. Reading the story again and again is the only way to improve vocabulary, sight words, and fluency. And the better the student can read the story, the better his/her comprehension will be. The only way to improve reading is by reading. And the best way is to practice every day.

Social Studies

We are learning about our country’s government. Important issues include why leaders are important, how leaders are elected, what is a country and how our country relates to the rest of the world. These are big ideas, but not too big for the hard-working students in Room 1!

Excelencia de señorío

El Señorío de Wilmington tiene un programa especial de la recompensa para los estudiantes que trabajan duro y siempre tratan su mejor. Todos los meses estudiantes son escogidos quién ha seguido las reglas de la escuela y aulas. La mayoría de los estudiantes hacen un gran trabajo cada día pero nosotros sólo podemos escoger a algunos estudiantes un mes por aula. ¡Mira para su niño para ser un Estudiante futuro del Mes! Honoramos a los Estudiantes del Mes en una asamblea.

Nuestra asamblea de la Excelencia del Señorío fue el viernes. Honoramos Abel y Abimael se Alojan como Estudiantes de 1’s del Mes para septiembre. ¡Las felicitaciones usted tipos! Desde que la mayor parte de los estudiantes hacen su mejor gran parte del tiempo, nosotros tenemos también una recompensa después de la asamblea. Todos que hicieron un gran trabajo en el mes consiguen para tomar parte en la recompensa que es decidida por el grado maestros planos. ¡Primero recompensa de grado que este mes fue Bingo para premios!

Después de la asamblea, el Espacio 1 jugado U. S. A. Bingo. Hemos estado estudiando acerca de nuestro país en estudios sociales y tan los estudiantes fueron emocionados a encontrar los estados en sus tarjetas de Bingo. Fue complicado desde que hay 50 estados y sólo 8 estados en cada tarjeta. Pero los estudiantes tuvieron paciencia y todos se fueron con por lo menos un premio.

Cumplidos

El espacio 1 tuvo también un gusto especial en el almuerzo el viernes. Desde que ellos habían ganado 50 cumplidos para andar en el vestíbulo, su recompensa fue el almuerzo y la charla con el director, Sr. Haber. Los estudiantes siguieron Sr. Haber al aula con sus almuerzos y todos se sentaron y comieron y charlaron. Sr. Haber pone también alguna música al fondo y los estudiantes parecieron divertirse realmente.

Después, utilicé esta experiencia como una introducción buena a la escritura de la carta. Los estudiantes cada escribió una carta a Sr. Haber que da gracias él para entrar y charlando con ellos. Las cartas son difíciles de escribir porque las cosas tienen que ser “apenas tan”. Pienso que los estudiantes hicieron un trabajo maravilloso en su primera carta que escribe la actividad de primero grado.

Matemáticas

Estamos en una nueva unidad en matemáticas. Estudiamos las formas (la geometría). Los estudiantes se divierten. Todos parecen gozar nuestra serie de matemáticas.

Escritura

Estaremos haciendo mucho más escribiendo ahora que estamos en nuestro segundo mes de la escuela. Primero alumnos son esperados hacer grandes progresos en la escritura a fines del año. Por lo tanto, ellos deben hacer mucha escritura. Usted verá mucha más escritura para deberes. Estaremos trabajando en todos los rasgos de escritura pero del primer que trabajamos en es las convenciones. Los estudiantes serán esperados escribir las oraciones completas, el comienzo cada oración con una mayúscula, terminar con la puntuación apropiada, tener los espacios entre sus palabras y tener la escritura legible. Esto será los criterios para el primer grado del período que marca. Esté por favor enterado que toda escritura debe seguir de casa estas pautas.

Lectura

Nuestras esperanzas de la lectura aumentan también. Sus niños estarán trayendo en casa el segundo de cinco libros en nuestra serie de la lectura. Usted advertirá que hay muchas más palabras en cada página y las palabras son más duras. Cada aumentos del libro de esta manera. Yo no le puedo decir cuán importante es para sus niños de leer la historia asignada por lo menos una vez cada noche. La lectura que la historia es una y otra vez la única manera de mejorar el vocabulario, palabras de vista, y la fluidez. Y el mejor el estudiante puede leer la historia, la mejor su comprensión será. La única manera de mejorar la lectura está leyendo. Y la mejor manera es de practicar cada día.

Estudios sociales

Aprendemos acerca de nuestro gobierno del país. Los asuntos importantes incluyen por qué líderes son importantes, cómo líderes son elegidos, lo que es un país y cómo nuestro país relaciona al resto del mundo. ¡Estos son las ideas grandes, pero no demasiado grande para los estudiantes trabajadores en el Espacio 1!

We have a new reward system in place at Wilmington Manor. If a class is walking in the hallway following all the school hallway rules (no noise, straight line, hands to self) and another teacher notices that they are doing a great job, the class receives a “compliment.” The class keeps track of the compliments and gets rewarded when they have recieved a certain amount. So far Room 1 has received the following rewards:

10 compliments: 10 extra minutes of recess

25 compliments: eat lunch in classroom with teacher

Room 1 had a great time at extra recess but we really LOVED the classroom lunch. I played fun songs on the CD player while we ate and chatted. The students sang along and when they were finished eating, got up and danced. We had a great time!

The next reward is lunch and chat with the principal after 50 compliments! We  already have earned over 40 compliments so the reward is just around the corner.

I am very proud of Room 1. They have worked hard and have enjoyed keeping track of their compliments.

Tenemos un nuevo sistema de la recompensa en el lugar en el Señorío de Wilmington. Si una clase anda en el pasillo que sigue todas las reglas de pasillo de escuela (no ruido, la línea recta, las manos al ser) y otras notas de maestro que ellos hacen un gran trabajo, la clase recibe un “cumplido”. La clase sigue los cumplidos y consigue recompensó cuando ellos han recieved una cierta cantidad. Así que el Espacio distante 1 ha recibido las recompensas siguientes:

10 cumplidos: 10 minutos extra del recreo

25 cumplidos: almuerza en el aula con maestro

El espacio 1 tuvo un gran tiempo en el recreo extra pero ADORAMOS realmente el almuerzo de aula. Jugué las canciones divertidas en el reproductor de compact-disc mientras comimos y charlamos. Los estudiantes cantaron por y cuando ellos fueron terminados comer, se levantó y bailó. ¡Tuvimos un gran tiempo!

¡La próxima recompensa es el almuerzo y la charla con el director después de 50 cumplidos! Nosotros ya hemos ganado más de 40 cumplidos tan la recompensa está a la vuelta de la esquina.

Estoy muy orgulloso del Espacio 1. Ellos han trabajado duro y han gozado seguir sus cumplidos.

I can’t wait to meet all of you at Open House tomorrow night! Open House will be from 6:30 – 8:00. There will be a session in each class from 6:30 – 7:00 and then another session from 7:15 – 7:45.  This way, if you have more than 1 child in Wilmington Manor, you can meet at least two different teachers.

Yo no puedo esperar para encontrar todo usted en Casa Abierta mañana noche! La Casa abierta será de 6:30 – 8:00. Habrá una sesión en cada clase de 6:30 – 7:00 y entonces otra sesión de 7:15 – 7:45. Esta manera, si usted tiene a más de 1 niño en el Señorío de Wilmington, usted puede encontrar por lo menos dos maestros diferentes.

We have had a great beginning of school. Room 1 is a great class full of ready and willing learners. We have learned the rules and routines, have most of our forms signed and returned, and are now ready to let the learning begin! This means homework will be given daily and expected to be completed and returned the next day.

Here are a couple of reminders: Nothing should be in the book bag except the homework book, the reading book and any papers that are to be returned. Any other materials such as crayon, pencils, glue, notebooks, scissors, etc. should be kept home in a “toolbox.” These items should always be available for homework.

Please check your child’s book bag daily to make sure that you are receiving any important papers and that nothing is coming to school that should stay home. Also check your child’s homework every day. One part of the homework is to read the weekly story and go over the weekly sight words. Your child cannot do this without you. Please take time each evening to review both the story and the words.

Since the students in Room 1 all have different Specials, please make sure that your child wears sneakers to school every day. If they do not wear sneakers, they should have sneakers in their book bag.

¡Permita que nosotros Meter mano! Hemos tenido un gran principio de la escuela. Tome por favor tiempo cada tarde para revisar la historia y las palabras.

Desde que los estudiantes en el Espacio 1 todo tiene diferente Especial, se cerciora por favor que su niño lleva los zapatos de lona para educar cada día. Si ellos no llevan los zapatos de lona, ellos deben tener los zapatos de lona en su bolsa del libro.

Well, school began and I am pleased to say that Room 1 is a terrific group of students! We have been getting used to the rules and routines of school and everyone is learning fast!
